A young woman sparked online debate after complaining about her NYSC posting to Kano State due to distance and security fears, while many social media users encouraged her to give the state a chance.

A prospective member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has sparked reactions online after expressing disappointment over being posted to Kano State for her one-year national service.
In a viral video, the young woman revealed that she had been deployed from Owerri, Imo State, to Kano State and questioned why she was sent so far from home. She said the posting left her heartbroken and reluctant to participate in the programme.
The lady also cited security concerns, saying fears about insecurity and kidnapping made her uncomfortable with the deployment.
According to her, she was surprised that out of all the states in Nigeria, she was assigned to Kano. She argued that her family could not afford a large ransom if anything happened to her and wondered why she was not posted to a state closer to home.
The video quickly attracted reactions from social media users. Some people encouraged her to keep an open mind, describing Kano as a peaceful, welcoming, and culturally rich state. Others argued that the state is safer than many people assume and suggested that she should experience it herself before judging.
While some sympathized with her concerns, others defended Kano, saying it is a beautiful state with hospitable residents and a vibrant culture. Overall, the discussion highlighted the mixed opinions many Nigerians have about NYSC postings and security concerns in different parts of the country.
