Full List: Northern States Lead in Percentage of Out-of-School Children, Report Reveals

Cursory: A recent report highlights the alarming numbers of out-of-school children in Nigeria, with northern states like Kebbi, Sokoto, and Yobe leading in percentages. See full list below…

A recent report has shed light on the concerning issue of out-of-school children across various states in Nigeria, with northern states taking the lead in percentages.

According to a report published by TheCable on Thursday, March 21, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Yobe states have emerged with the highest percentages of children aged 6–15 out of school, standing at 67.6%, 66.4%, and 62.9%, respectively.

In contrast, Anambra state has the lowest percentage of out-of-school children at 2.9%, followed by Imo state and Ekiti state with 5.1% each, as reported by Tribune.

The stark disparity between the northern and southern states underscores the urgent need for intervention to address the educational challenges faced by children in certain regions of the country.

The detrimental impact of countless children being denied access to education extends beyond the current generation, significantly affecting the nation’s future prosperity.

Without concerted efforts and sustainable solutions, Nigeria risks squandering the potential of millions of youth and hindering socio-economic development.

As stakeholders continue to grapple with this pressing issue, it remains crucial to prioritize inclusive and accessible education for all children across Nigeria to ensure a brighter future for the nation as a whole.
