NECO Exam Date 2026:
According to the NECO 2026 Timetable, the examination will commence on June 15 and conclude on July 23rd, 2026.

Important Notes (Summary):
- Candidates must have a photocard for identification.
- Practicals in Sciences and Computer Studies may be done in sets.
- Visual Arts Paper IV (Creative Design) given at least one week before.
- Albinos and blind candidates get 30 extra minutes.
- Scientific calculators allowed; electronic gadgets strictly prohibited.
- Candidates who skip Practicals (Paper I) will not have a result in that subject.
SCHOOLS AND CANDIDATES SHOULD NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
- PRACTICAL IN SCIENCES, STENOGRAPHY, COMPUTER STUDIES & DATA PROCESSING CAN BE IN SETS WHERE THE NUMBER OF CANDIDATES IS LARGE AND THE EQUIPMENT CANNOT GO ROUND.
- VISUAL ARTS PAPER IV [CREATIVE DESIGN] SHOULD BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES AT LEAST ONE WEEK BEFORE THE EXAMINATION DATE.
- WELDING & FABRICATION, ENGINEERING CRAFT PRACTICE SHOULD BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES AT LEAST THREE WEEKS BEFORE THE EXAMINATION DATE.
- ALBINOS AND BLIND CANDIDATES ARE TO BE ALLOWED 30 EXTRA MINUTES AT THE END OF EACH SUBJECT.
- BLIND CANDIDATES MUST MAKE USE OF THE NECO SUPPLIED OBR CUSTOMISED BRAILLE SHEET FOR THE EXAMINATION.
- DYEING & BLEACHING 1B, PAINTING & DECORATION 1B, PRINTING CRAFT PRACTICE 1B, LEATHER GOODS MANUFACTURING & REPAIR 1B AND PHOTOGRAPH 1B SHOUD BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE EXAMINATION DATE.
- USE OF SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR IS ALLOWED.
- USE OF PROGRAMMABLE CALCULATOR OR ANY PROGRAMMABLE DEVICE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
- BRINGING GSM INTO THE EXAMINATION HALL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Schools and candidates should be aware of the following key points:
- Adhere to the time on the question paper if it differs from the timetable.
- Confirm examination venues for Physical Education, Auto Mechanics, French, Music, and Arabic from NECO State Offices.
- Practical exams in certain subjects may be conducted in sets when equipment is limited.
- Provide Visual Arts Paper IV to candidates at least one week before the exam date.
- Distribute Welding & Fabrication and Engineering Craft Practice materials at least three weeks before the exam date.
- Give Dyeing and Bleaching, Photography, Painting and Decoration, Printing Craft Practice, and Leather Goods materials at least two weeks before the exam date.
- Nigerian languages include a literature aspect.
- Allow albinos and blind candidates an additional 30 minutes for each subject.
- Blind candidates must use the NECO-supplied OBR customized braille sheet.
- The use of scientific calculators is permitted.
- Electronic communication gadgets are strictly prohibited in the examination hall.
- Candidates must sit for practical exams (Paper 1) to receive a result in the subject.
Tips for Exam Success:
Here are some tips that will help you pass the NECO SSCE exam
- Start Early: Don’t wait till the last minute to begin your preparation for the exam. Start studying and practicing months before the exam date.
- Get the right study materials: Ensure you have access to the right textbooks, past questions and other study materials. These will help you get an idea of the exam structure, and what to expect.
- Create a study plan: A well-structured study plan is essential for efficient and effective preparation. Plan your study time to cover all subjects, give priority to your weaker subjects, and allocate more time to them.
- Practice Past Questions: Practicing past questions is an excellent way to understand the exam structure, question pattern, and type of questions that usually come up.
- Stay Focused: During the exam period, try to stay focused and avoid distractions. Stay away from social media, and other activities that may distract you from your studies.
- Get Adequate Rest: Ensure you get enough sleep, eat well, and stay healthy. A healthy body and mind will help you stay alert, and perform better during the exams.
- Stay Confident: Believe in yourself and your abilities. Don’t let fear or anxiety hold you back. With adequate preparation and confidence, you can do well in the NECO SSCE exam.
