UNN Official Caught Demanding ₦16,000 Cash from Students for Clearance, Rejects Bank Transfers
A University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) staff member is under scrutiny after a video surfaced allegedly showing them extorting ₦16,000 from students during admission clearance.
A staff member at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has come under fire after being captured on video allegedly extorting ₦16,000 in cash from students seeking admission clearance.
The video, which surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), shows the university official counting cash handed over by a student. According to the anonymous student who posted the footage, the staff member insisted on receiving cash payments only, refusing to accept bank transfers.
The whistleblower claimed that hundreds of students from the Faculty of Agriculture were being subjected to the same demand, stating in the video:
“Nigerians, come to our help. This is the Faculty of Agriculture doing clearance.” “This man is collecting ₦16k from each student — this is not fair. Thousands of students are coming to do clearance. He tells you he doesn’t take transfer.”
The viral clip has sparked outrage online, with many calling on the university and relevant authorities to investigate the alleged extortion and enforce accountability.
