Free Education for All: Governor Declares Free, Mandatory Education

Cursory: Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has announced free and mandatory education in public schools from ECCDE to JSS. This policy aims to enhance education quality, upgrade community schools to smart schools, and ensure strict enforcement without school fees. The governor also rewarded top-performing students to promote academic excellence.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has introduced a new policy aimed at providing free and mandatory education in public schools throughout the state. This decision reflects his vision for a comprehensive and accessible education system in Anambra.

The Governor made this significant announcement during an address at Premier Primary School in Obosi. He declared that education, covering Early Childhood Care and Development Education (ECCDE) to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), will be both cost-free and obligatory for all school-age children in the state. He emphasized that, starting from this point forward, no child within this educational range will be subjected to school fees or any other charges to obtain an education in the state.

In his words: “From henceforth, no child within that education range will be charged school fees or any other fees to acquire education in the state.

“Children of school age will no longer be deprived of access to quality education; core community schools will be upgraded to smart schools in line with our vision of imparting skillful and sustainable education.”

While assuring that machinery would be in place to ensure effective step down of the directive in the State, Soludo warned that his administration would not look kindly on anyone who fails to comply with the pronouncement.The top three students in the last term examinations were presented cash prizes.
