He took it to Facebook to celebrate another fifth time of reaching a CGPA of 5.0.

His post read:

“Finally, my last semester’s results is out.

“And yeah, I have just hit a 5.0 GPA for the FIFTH time. 😄

“Nile University made this result release long, torturous, and annoying but glad that it is over.

“So, I’ve been reflecting on what this win means for me – in terms of the context of the success and the lessons I can distill and share with you all.

Because I cannot possibly share all my strategies in one post. Thinking of it, I have been sharing that for over a year now on this platform and in extensively crafted courses – the N2000 HEADSTART Chitchat Session with Freshers and my just concluded N3500 SESSION WITH UNDERGRADUATES. But still, I’m not done yet, and maybe not yet soon.

On that note, if you’re interested in what my strategies are, go through my rich timeline contents if you have the time. And if you want more direct and convenient access to my art of excellence, I’ll reckon that you get either of my materials – the Headstart Chitchat Session Material (if you’re a Fresher) or the SESSION WITH UNDERGRADUATES material which panders to a more general audience.

But while we are on that, here are the lessons I learned from this win, I will share these FOUR lessons in the comment section:”

Sharing the lessons on his comment section, he wrote:

1. The best response to failure is picking your lessons and bouncing back.

The semester before the one in context for me was a devastating one on all levels. My non-academic life was crisis-filled. I returned to Abuja to find out that my accommodation had been sold without my contact. The consequence of that alone made the semester a living hell. And in no small measure that affected me academically too. But I did well enough to limit the damage, restricting my result to just As and two Bs. A result that I wasn’t particularly happy with but man, was still kinda grateful for it because things could’ve been much worse.

But last semester, I knew that I just had one business and that was to bounce back tenaciously from a result I had regarded as a failure by my standards. And I’m glad that with every mark, I did. The best response to failure is rising back up formidably.

2. Pick your marks as they come.
If you go carefully through my mid-semester scores, you will see that my minimum score was 32/40 which is an 80%. For getting that low, I wasn’t happy with myself but that gives you a sense of the mentality I approach this academic game with. And that is, earn your marks as they come – from the graded assignments to the class tests to the marks for attendance and participation to the mid-semester exams. Pick them as they come. This way, the journey to hitting an A becomes a lot easier.

3. Justify the suffering.
This ties so closely to the message I shared when I’d hit 5.0 the fourth time. And that message was man, we all are still going to sit for examinations, we all are going to be troubled by that difficult lecturer, we all are going to attend classes and struggle to meet the deadlines for assignments – why don’t we just then aim for scores that will justify these suffering? While there are a thousand other motivational perspectives I lean into to draw strength in the times I would want to lower the bar, this idea of justifying the pains just tells me of how foolish an idea it is to make my pain worthless and so, I push. And so, should you? Make a gem out of the pain.

4. Start every semester with an informed strategy.
Thinking of it, last semester was my most strategic semester yet. From the beginning of the semester, I had taken note of all the lecturers that will take me on courses and had studied their styles and their thinking patterns. It was at this point of study that I recognized that the lecturers taking me on Advanced Microeconomics and Banking and Finance were dark horses (lecturers that were low-key capable of messing up my results if I was not careful). So, I defined my approach to suit their taste, and man, that singular act saved me from what was almost certainly a general failure in these courses – particularly, in the Advanced Microeconomics course. Top students are products of foresight. Now, to better understand and master my game of strategic preparation, I’ll highly recommend that you get my SESSION WITH UNDERGRADUATES material, there I exposed every bit of my strategic thought from the beginning of the semester to the end.

Gabriel has really shown to be a genius with remarkable results.
