Recognized with a cash prize, awards, and automatic employment by the state government, Taiwo attributes her success to grace and hard work. Despite personal challenges, including the loss of her father, she remained dedicated to her studies. Taiwo plans to pursue further education, aiming for a Master’s or PhD in fields like Molecular Biology and Immunology.

Adedayo Taiwo, a remarkable student, has made history at Olusegun Agaga University of Science and Technology, Nigeria. She graduated as the top student in her class, earning a Microbiology degree with an impressive cumulative grade point average of 4.87 out of 5.00. Taiwo’s outstanding academic achievement not only secured her a cash prize of 500,000 naira but also garnered her various prestigious awards and automatic employment from her state government.

Expressing her joy and gratitude, Taiwo took to LinkedIn to share her accomplishment, emphasizing that her success is a result of both grace and hard work. She highlighted the recognition she received for her exceptional performance and mentioned that she was honored as the overall best graduating student for both the 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 academic sessions. Additionally, Taiwo was the second valedictorian in the school’s history to be recognized during the convocation ceremony.

Taiwo reported receiving a total of 12 awards, including the opportunity to shake hands and take a photo with the Governor of Ondo State, Nigeria. She revealed that upon starting university, she had not aimed to become the valedictorian, sharing that her initial motivation stemmed from the promise of receiving a laptop based on her first semester’s results. However, she discovered her potential for greater achievements when she exceeded her initial goal of attaining a 4.50 grade point average, achieving a remarkable 4.75 GPA.

Taiwo recounted how she maintained a flawless 5.00 grade point average for five consecutive semesters during her university years, emphasizing the challenges she faced along the way.

She highlighted the difficulties she encountered, acknowledging the need for trade-offs, sacrifices, perseverance, and endurance to achieve such a feat.

Taiwo expressed gratitude to God for providing her with the strength to overcome obstacles and complete her academic journey. Additionally, she extended heartfelt appreciation to her mother for her unwavering support, especially after the loss of her father.

Despite the hardships, Taiwo’s mother served as both a father and a mother figure, a role for which Taiwo is deeply grateful. Looking ahead, Taiwo expressed a keen interest in pursuing advanced degrees in fields such as Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Mycology, Immunology, or related areas.
