Meet Loveth Onyeagubor, UNIPORT’s Overall Best Graduating Student with a 4.94 CGPA

Despite years of financial hardship that delayed her university education, Loveth Onyeagubor persevered, worked to support herself, and eventually graduated as UNIPORT’s overall best student and valedictorian with an outstanding 4.94 CGPA.

A remarkable academic achievement has brought recognition to Loveth Onyeagubor, who emerged as the overall best graduating student of University of Port Harcourt after earning an outstanding cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.94 out of 5.00.

Loveth graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Curriculum Studies and Educational Technology. Her exceptional performance placed her at the top of her department, faculty, and the entire university. Her success reflects years of dedication, discipline, resilience, and hard work.

Her journey to academic excellence was not an easy one. After completing secondary school in 2017, financial challenges prevented her from immediately pursuing a university education. While many of her peers moved on with their studies, Loveth had to postpone her dreams and seek ways to support herself.

Instead of giving up, she remained determined. During the years she spent waiting for an opportunity to continue her education, she worked as a salesgirl while holding firmly to her ambition of attending university and building a successful future through education.

Her breakthrough came in 2020 when she secured admission into the University of Port Harcourt. From the moment she began her studies, she was determined to make the most of the opportunity she had waited years to receive. Throughout her undergraduate years, she consistently maintained excellent academic results despite facing financial pressures.

To support herself while studying, Loveth organized tutorials for fellow students, taught part-time, and operated a perfume business on campus. Balancing academics with entrepreneurial activities was challenging, but she remained focused on her goals and committed to excellence.

Her perseverance paid off when she graduated in 2024 with a remarkable CGPA of 4.94/5.00, earning the title of the university’s overall best graduating student. She was also selected as the valedictorian of her graduating class and delivered the valedictory speech during the graduation ceremony.

Reflecting on the honour, Loveth explained that being named valedictorian represented far more than academic recognition. She said it reminded her that resilience and consistency are essential for achieving long-term goals and that every great accomplishment is achieved one step at a time.

As part of the graduation celebrations, she participated in several special events, including a tree-planting exercise, a dinner hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, and the opportunity to address university management, guests, family members, friends, and fellow graduates during her valedictory speech. She described these experiences as memorable moments she would treasure for years.

Loveth also expressed gratitude to God, her family, lecturers, mentors, colleagues, and friends for their support throughout her journey. According to her, every lesson, opportunity, sacrifice, and word of encouragement contributed to her success.

As she moves into the next stage of her life, Loveth remains committed to excellence, leadership, service, and lifelong learning, hoping her story will inspire others facing challenges to remain persistent in pursuing their dreams.
