UI Graduate Deborah Oludimu, Who Scored 290 in UTME, Bags First-Class Degree in Law and Breaks Family Record

Deborah Oludimu graduated with a first-class degree in Law from the University of Ibadan after being homeschooled, writing WAEC at 14, scoring 290 in UTME, and becoming the first in her family to achieve such an academic feat.

A young Nigerian woman, Deborah Oludimu, has attracted widespread attention after graduating with a first-class degree in Law from the University of Ibadan, setting an exceptional academic record along the way.

Deborah, who wrote her WAEC examinations at just 14 years old, shared her journey on social media, prompting admiration from many Nigerians. According to her, she was homeschooled from JSS1 to SS3 without tutors, relying entirely on self-study throughout her secondary education.

An old post she made in 2023 resurfaced online, where she revealed several milestones she had achieved before graduation. In the post, she disclosed that she sat for WAEC in one sitting at age 14, scored 290 in UTME, and was studying Law at UI with a CGPA of 3.83 out of 4.0. She also noted that she largely depended on self-study, attending classes mainly for attendance due to her homeschooling background.

Years later, Deborah confirmed that she had successfully completed her studies at the University of Ibadan, graduating with first-class honours in Law. She further revealed that she broke a rare personal record by becoming the first person in her family to attain such an outstanding academic achievement.

Her announcement sparked massive reactions on social media, with many users congratulating her and expressing curiosity about her homeschooling experience. While some praised her discipline and brilliance, others asked questions about how homeschooling works in Nigeria and its effectiveness.

Deborah’s achievement has since been described by many as proof that alternative learning paths, dedication, and self-discipline can lead to exceptional academic success.
