MAPOLY shuns out 131 Fresh First-Class Graduates

The Adama Modibbo University formally known as Modibbo Adama University of Technology graduates 131first class students in its the 24th, 25th and 26th combined convocation ceremony of the institution with a total 12,866 graduands.

The total of 12,876 graduands who completed their academic programmes from seven faculties, the Centre for Distance learning and Sandwich programmes in the 2017/2018, 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 academic sessions, were lined up for the event termed combined 24th, 25th and 26th Convocation which was held recently.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdullahi Tukur had earlier before the event addressed news men while giving the breakdown of the graduands as 131 First Class, 2865 second class upper, 7462 second class lower, 2141 third class and 277 pass degrees under bachelor’s degree category.

Out of the 12867 the graduated the VC said: “These are made up of 1,586 Certificate and Diploma graduands; 9,569 full-time and part-time first degree graduands, with 133 graduating with first-class degrees. There are also 1,711 higher degree graduands including 155 PhDs.

The VC has however expressed joy over transformation of the university from a science and technology-based specialised institution to a conventional institution and now simply called Modibbo Adama University.

He has however shed lights on the challenges facing the school from decreasing staff which he blaimed on the inability of the school to recruit necessary staff owing to “the different layers of approval that the system is subjected to before gaining the nod to employ staff is downright frustrating and agonizing and if care is not taken, could spell doom for the whole system,”

Another problem was the limited wall fencing of the school.

“The Modibbo Adama University Yola is endowed with over 4000 hectares of land, a portion of which is where the university campus is located. However, there is no complete perimeter fencing. The situation gives the University management a lot of sleepless nights, particularly with the worsening security situation of the country,” He said.

Anyways good luck to the graduands a they get set to enter the about market. It is indeed not easy to graduate with high grades in public institutions not to talk of first class. This is why you see lesser number of first class graduands in contrast to private institutions.
