Meet brilliant 2nd Best Graduating Student with 4.8 CGPA

Cursory: Kazeem Adebola Abdur-Rahmon, the second-highest achieving student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), graduated as the top student in Mechanical Engineering despite financial challenges. In an interview, he emphasized minimal financial support from home, managing social media responsibilities, and working with Facebook and Instagram ads. He encourages students to seek help from high achievers.

Kazeem Adebola Abdur-Rahmon, the second-highest achieving graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, shared his story of academic triumph despite facing financial challenges.

He emerged as the top student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering with a remarkable 4.8 grade point average.

In an interview with Legit.ng, Kazeem shared that his parents were deeply moved by his academic achievements, and he received minimal financial support from home. Being the second-best graduating student among over 11,000 students at the Ogun varsity convocation was overwhelming for him.

Kazeem expressed his joy and excitement, noting that the journey had not been easy. Financial challenges were a significant hurdle, and he had to independently manage expenses like rent, school fees, and personal upkeep.

To overcome these challenges, he ensured that his academic responsibilities didn’t interfere with his business as a social media manager and specialist in Facebook and Instagram ads.

Kazeem said: “I feel very good and excited about it because it has not been an easy journey. My parents were emotional, too, as they didn’t even expect me to reach that level of excellence.

“The major challenges I faced were finances. I barely get money from home, not even any family member. I pay house rent and school fees myself. I also sponsor my feeding and all other things.

“I overcame the challenges by not allowing my school activities to tamper with my business. Actually, I’m a social media manager and a Facebook & Instagram ads specialist.”

Kazeem expressed his anticipation of maintaining a balance between his social media endeavors and his engineering profession.

He emphasized his desire to pursue further education, attract clients for his business, and effectively manage both his engineering career and activities in social media marketing.

He said: “I look forward to furthering my education and also getting clients for my business. I want to efficiently manage my professional career in engineering and also balance it with my activities in the world of social media marketing.”

Additionally, he encouraged current undergraduates to humble themselves and seek guidance from peers who excel academically.

He said: “They shouldn’t be carried away by the common slang ‘school na scam’ and also not feel pressured by anyone doing better than them. Instead, they should move closer to the person doing better than them and also focus on getting better than who they were yesterday.

“Regarding the ‘japa’ syndrome confronting the country, Kazeem did not rule out the option of leaving the country for Europe or America, adding, “I consider getting a fully funded scholarship and other opportunities abroad.”
