Nigerian students in India seek relief package

The All Nigerian Students and Community Association in India has asked the Federal Government to provide palliatives for them, saying the ongoing global lockdown occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic caught them unawares.

President of the All Nigerian Students and Community Association in India, Mr Solomon Itere, in a statement on Friday, also urged the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to extend the palliatives to all Nigerians irrespective of tribe or religion.

The statement noted that having been caught off-guard due to the lockdown, the Nigerian community and the embassy in India had done their best to provide palliatives, but added that there was no welfare package for stranded Nigerians in India.

The statement said, “Many Nigerians are stranded in the face of stimulus packages for Indian citizens, having left out foreigners in India.

“We urge President Buhari to ensure that all stimulus packages reached all Nigerians irrespective of tribe or religion. We are praying for all Nigerians, especially the cases who are being treated in various isolated areas, for a speedy recovery.”
