Provost Cautions Students, Receives NANS’ Award

Nigerian students, under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have bestowed the Best Performing Provost in Federal Colleges of Education across the country on the Provost of the Federal College of Education, Pankshin, Plateau State, Dr. Amos Bulus Cirfat.

The Provost also received a medal for his sterling role in Managing Students’ Affairs by the Nigerian Students.

The NANS President, who was represented by National Secretary General, Comrade Umar Yusuf, while presenting the award on behalf of the 84.4 million students in the country, said the merit award was in recognition of the track record of the Provost in changing the landscape of the institution and for fostering industrial harmony as well as enhancing the well-being of students.

According to him, the Provost was conferred with the Best Provost of Colleges of Education in Nigeria award for standing firm during security challenges facing the institution, and for attracting TETFund projects to the college and prompt payment of worker’s salaries in the past three years of his administration, among other achievements.

Cirfat, while receiving the awards during the matriculation of 4,828 students of the college for the 2019/2020 academic session, said he was most thrilled by the honour because it is coming from the students.

He described the students as his number one constituency and pledged that the award of excellent would further spur him to do more for students and workers of the institution.

He assured the students that the management would continue to provide an enabling environment for the smooth conduct of academic activities to promote high standard in the education sector in the country.

“I urged you to shun acts of cultism, examination malpractice, hooliganism and disobedience to the rules and regulations of the college as laid down by the authorities,” the provost said.

He encouraged the students to be upright, focused and committed to their academic pursues in order to achieve their objectives of effective learning.

Cirfat, however, noted that government was doing everything necessary to provide a conducive learning atmosphere and enabling environment by providing funds within the limited resources for infrastructural development of the college.
