A 19-year-old Nigerian woman set a new record at Babcock University by graduating with First Class Honors, a perfect 5.0 GPA, and earning multiple prestigious awards for her academic excellence in Computer Science.


A young Nigerian woman has achieved an extraordinary milestone, graduating with First Class Honors and a perfect 5.0 GPA from the Department of Computer Science at Babcock University.
She shared her excitement and gratitude on X (formerly Twitter), celebrating her academic success and expressing appreciation.


“Highest CGPA, Department of Computer Science. Overall Best Graduating Student, School of Computing and Engineering. Thank you, Jesus! We are locked in,” she wrote, accompanied by photos of herself with awards recognizing her achievement.
On LinkedIn, she provided further details about her academic journey:
“On July 28th, at 19 years old, I graduated with First Class Honors in Computer Science. I earned the highest CGPA in my department and was named the Overall Best Graduating Student from the School of Computing and Engineering Sciences, which includes Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, and related disciplines.”
She highlighted her exceptional performance in her final year, achieving a perfect 5.0 GPA and successfully defending her project titled ‘Brain Tumor Identification and Classification Using YOLOv5 in Magnetic Resonance Imaging,’ earning a top grade of 90.
In recognition of her achievements, she received multiple prestigious awards, including:
- Google Generation Scholarship for academic excellence.
- Dean’s Prize for the highest CGPA in the School of Computing.
- Engineer (Dr.) Akin Alade Family Award for Best Graduating Student.
- Folajimi Daodu Award for Best Graduating Student.
- Labulo Prize, donated by Prof. Biodun and Prof. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Disu.
- Academic Excellence Award from the Michael Adetutu Foundation, which included cash prizes, career coaching, and assistance with scholarship applications.
- New Horizons IT/E-Biz Certification Excellence Prize.
- Dean’s mention for a paid 3-month internship with the Kibo School Programme in the U.S.
In her post, she expressed gratitude to God, her family, friends, mentors, and academic supervisors, acknowledging their roles in her success.
“Praise be to God, the Father of compassion and comfort,” she concluded.
