Professor Ishaq Oloyede will hand over leadership of JAMB to Professor Segun Aina on July 31, 2026, with Aina bringing extensive experience in computer engineering, digital transformation and examination systems to his new role.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set to witness a change in leadership as Professor Ishaq Oloyede formally hands over the affairs of the examination body to Professor Segun Aina on Friday, July 31, 2026.
The handover ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., with JAMB announcing that the event will be streamed live through its official social media platforms. The ceremony will officially mark the conclusion of Oloyede’s tenure and the beginning of Aina’s administration.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as Oloyede’s successor. Aina is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and has experience in digital infrastructure, examination systems and institutional reforms.
Aina obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom. He later earned a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
According to the Presidency, Aina has more than 15 years of experience advising federal and state governments on digital transformation, systems development and institutional reforms. He has also contributed to the development of ICT systems and examination processes through his work with bodies such as the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board.
The incoming registrar has previously explained that he chose to build his career in Nigeria after spending about 11 years in the United Kingdom. He reportedly declined the opportunity to obtain permanent residency in the UK, saying his decision was driven by his desire to contribute to Nigeria’s development and future.
With the formal handover scheduled for Friday, Professor Segun Aina is expected to assume responsibility for leading JAMB and overseeing the board’s activities under a new administration.
