Police Arrest Popular Pastor and Wife for Tampering with Evidence in Case Involving Their Son, Accused of Killing KWACOTECH Student in Kwara

The Kwara State Police have arrested a popular pastor and his wife for tampering with evidence in the case involving their son, Adebayo Joshua Happiness, who is accused of luring and murdering 21-year-old Awesu Mojisola, a student from Kwara State College of Health Technology.

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested the parents of Adebayo Joshua Happiness, the primary suspect in the murder of 21-year-old Awesu Mojisola, a graduating student from Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa. Along with five other suspects, the parents were detained for allegedly attempting to destroy evidence against their son.

Adebayo, an expelled final-year student of Summit University, Offa, was earlier arrested in connection with the death of Mojisola. During a press briefing in Ilorin, Kwara State Police Commissioner Victor Olaiya revealed that a hotel staff member who discovered Mojisola’s body and unlawfully disposed of it at a refuse dump was also among those arrested.

Among those detained were Adebayo’s parents, Pastor Adebayo Adeniyi, popularly known as Prophet Ogunse, and his wife. They were apprehended for trying to tamper with evidence by retrieving their son’s belongings from his school following his arrest. It was discovered that Mrs. Adeniyi Bukola had removed the SIM card from Mojisola’s iPhone and hid it within a wall near their home, despite Adebayo’s initial claim that he had thrown the phone into the Afelele River in Offa. Both the iPhone and SIM card were recovered from the parents’ possession.

The Police Commissioner stated that the suspects involved in this case face charges of criminal conspiracy and causing the disappearance of evidence. He added that all suspects remain in custody, and once investigations are completed, they will be charged in court.

The case dates back to August 13, 2024, when Offa Police Station received a report from Ogungbenro Blessing, who stated that her roommate, Mojisola, had gone missing under suspicious circumstances. The incident occurred on August 9, 2024, after Mojisola received a call from Kolawole Timileyin, a fellow student who relayed a message from Adebayo inviting her to a supposed sign-out party at Whitefield Hotel in Ilorin, with a promise of N15,000. Mojisola accepted and traveled to Ilorin, but upon arrival, she expressed concerns to her friends about the absence of a party and being alone with Adebayo, who was smoking cannabis. Her phone subsequently went offline, and she was unreachable.

Following the report, police investigations quickly led to Adebayo’s arrest. Preliminary findings revealed that Adebayo had lured Mojisola to Ilorin under false pretenses and booked a hotel room with no intention of hosting a party. Later that night, he booked an additional room for another female, possibly as a cover for his actions. In the early hours of August 10, 2024, Adebayo brutally murdered Mojisola, left her lifeless body in the hotel room, and fled, taking her iPhone and N15,600 in cash. He then returned to Offa, hiding the stolen phone in his hostel wardrobe.

The police continue to investigate, with all suspects remaining in custody, pending their appearance in court to face charges.
