Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic will hold a combined convocation for graduates from 2007 to 2026 after a 19-year break, with the institution also reporting accreditation for 29 academic programmes.

Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic (HUKP), a tertiary institution owned by the Katsina State Government, has announced plans to organise a combined convocation ceremony for graduates from 2007 to 2026.
The planned ceremony will bring together graduates from nearly two decades, following a 19-year period during which the Polytechnic did not hold a convocation ceremony.
The Rector of the institution, Dr Aminu Kado Doro, disclosed the development while presenting the Polytechnic’s budget during a pre-budget defence session before the Katsina State House of Assembly.
According to the Rector, the institution has not conducted a convocation ceremony since 2007. He, however, stated that preparations for the long-awaited event are already at an advanced stage and expressed confidence that the ceremony would be successfully organised.
Dr Kado Doro also revealed that the Katsina State Government has completed the construction of a new convocation arena for the Polytechnic. He added that the institution is currently putting other necessary arrangements in place ahead of the ceremony.
The Rector further announced that the Polytechnic obtained accreditation for 29 academic programmes in 2025. He described the achievement as an important step in the institution’s efforts to improve academic standards and strengthen technical education in Katsina State.
The combined convocation is expected to provide graduates from different academic years between 2007 and 2026 with an opportunity to formally celebrate their achievements after the prolonged break in the institution’s convocation activities.
