The Federal Ministry of Education has suspended a college staff member for allegedly engaging in inappropriate communication with a former female student, pending investigation and prosecution.

The Federal Ministry of Education has suspended a staff member of a government college for allegedly engaging in inappropriate communication with a former female student, describing the incident as “completely unacceptable.”
Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations for the Ministry, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja. She confirmed that the accused teacher has been handed over to the relevant authorities for investigation and possible prosecution.
The suspension follows the circulation of a video on social media showing the staff member in a compromising video conversation with the ex-student.
“The Federal Ministry of Education is deeply disturbed by a recent video circulating online, which shows a staff member of one of our colleges engaging in immoral communication with a former female student. This behavior is entirely unacceptable,” Boriowo said.
She further stated that the Ministry acted swiftly by suspending the teacher and initiating an investigation.
“The Ministry has suspended the staff member pending further investigations and disciplinary measures. The individual has also been handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution,” she added.
The statement also noted that the accused teacher is now barred from accessing the school premises.
“We want to assure the public that a comprehensive investigation will be conducted to address this inappropriate behavior. The Ministry strongly condemns any illegal or immoral acts that compromise the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of our students, past or present,” the statement read.
The Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining a safe learning environment and promised to collaborate with law enforcement to ensure offenders are held accountable.
“We remain committed to providing a secure and protective environment for all students. Perpetrators of such acts will face the full weight of the law,” Boriowo said.
The Ministry also called on parents, guardians, and the public to support its efforts by reporting any inappropriate behavior. It encouraged anyone with evidence or information about this incident or similar cases to come forward.
