NANS Condemns Killing of Kwara Student, Mojisola

NANS has condemned the murder of 21-year-old Kwara student Mojisola Awesu and is urging a thorough investigation while calling on the government to address rising insecurity against students.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has strongly condemned the brutal murder of 21-year-old Mojisola Awesu, a student of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, and is calling for a thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible.

NANS Senate President, Mr. Henry Okunomo, expressed the association’s outrage in a statement released on Tuesday in Kano, following the discovery of Mojisola’s body at a refuse dump in the Aleniboro area of Ilorin, Kwara State.

“We urge the police to conduct a thorough investigation, following all leads to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. The authorities’ silence is deafening, and we will not stand idly by while the lives of Nigerian students are treated with such disregard,” the statement read.

NANS also called on the Kwara State Government to take decisive action to address the growing insecurity and violence in the state, particularly targeting students. The association emphasized that the safety and well-being of students must be a top priority.

“We stand in solidarity with Mojisola’s family, friends, and the entire student community in Kwara. We will continue to demand justice and advocate for a safer Nigeria for all,” the statement concluded.
