A fresh LASU graduate was reportedly critically injured by a stray bullet when suspected armed robbers attacked a PoS operator in Igando, Lagos, with police later recovering spent bullet shells from the scene.

A recent graduate of Lagos State University (LASU) is reportedly battling for his life after being hit by a stray bullet during an attempted robbery in the Igando area of Lagos State.
The incident reportedly happened on Sunday along Kayode Onafuye Street, located in the Alhaji Ede area of the community.
According to residents, about four suspected armed robbers arrived on two motorcycles and targeted a Point of Sale (PoS) operator after allegedly following her to the neighbourhood.
The suspects reportedly went to the woman’s shop but discovered that she was not there. They then proceeded to her residence, where they allegedly called out to her and attempted to force their way inside. However, the occupants quickly locked the entrance, preventing the gunmen from gaining access.
A resident identified as Bode said the suspects became frustrated after their attempt failed and allegedly began shooting randomly. He explained that the men had initially gone to the PoS operator’s shop before moving to her house when they could not find her.
Another resident, who chose not to reveal his identity, said the LASU graduate was walking along the street when one of the bullets fired by the suspects struck him. He reportedly had no idea that a robbery attempt was taking place in the area.
The resident said people only realised what had happened after hearing the gunshots. Following the attackers’ departure, residents reportedly rushed to help the injured man and took him to a nearby General Hospital for treatment.
One of the people who assisted the victim reportedly said he had recently graduated from LASU and was preparing to begin the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
A police source confirmed that officers were sent to the area after authorities received information about the incident. The source also said some spent bullet shells were recovered in front of the building targeted by the suspected robbers.
When contacted on Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, said she had not yet received a briefing on the incident.
She, however, promised to look into the matter and provide an update. As of the time of the report, no further information had been released by the police.
