Mr. Joseph Aheto, an 81-year-old Ghanaian man, has achieved a remarkable milestone, graduating with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Entrepreneurship and Small Enterprise Development from the University of Cape Coast (UCC). This achievement is even more special as his son, Professor Denis Aheto, serves as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of UCC.
Mr. Aheto’s academic journey began with a Business Administration degree from the University of Ghana in 1978. Decades later, inspired by his sons’ academic success, he returned to school, enrolling in the MBA program in 2022. “I feel very much excited to have my own son graduating me today,” he said proudly.
Despite facing mockery from younger students, Mr. Aheto remained determined. “I soldiered on, and now I have graduated,” he stated confidently. His story serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and lifelong learning.
The graduation ceremony was an emotional moment, with Mr. Aheto’s family and the UCC community in attendance. His achievement highlights the importance of family support and the pursuit of knowledge, regardless of age.
