A 300 level female student at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Katsina State has attempted suicide after her male lover, who was her classmate from the same university, ended their relationship.
This lady, who was simply identified as Ummi by her classmates, is said to be an indigene of Kaduna State, studying sociology at the university.
According to reports, the woman allegedly drank a bottle of hand sanitizer and “pia pia” after her boyfriend rushed into her hostel on Friday night and announced his decision to break up with her.
A female student who asked not to be named disclosed: “They said her boyfriend visited her in the hostel. Immediately he left, she dashed into her room and drank “pia pia” and a hand sanitizer.
“Thereafter, she was seen vomiting and eventually collapsed. So, the security agents came and she was taken away.”
The lady is said to be receiving treatment in a hospital in the state capital.
