3 Students Innovate Remote-Controlled Extension Board to Prevent Electrical Fire Disasters

Cursory: Students at the Computer Engineering Department of an African University, have won the admiration of netizens after they designed a new extension board. The innovation by the students is aimed at curbing fire outbreaks caused by appliances.

Three students from the Computer Engineering Department of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have recently developed an innovative extension board that can be remotely controlled with an app.

Alexander Osei Bonsu, Francis Akwasi Agyemang, and Obed Ansah designed the extension board with the aim of curbing fire outbreaks caused by appliances left plugged into extension boards. The internet-controlled extension board has four relay models that help users manage sockets remotely.

The trio is hopeful that their innovation will help reduce the increased spate of fire outbreaks caused by appliances connected to extension boards.

This innovation has received a lot of praise from Netizens for coming up with such an important device.

In a similar event, a couple of years ago, another African, Brian Gitta from Uganda invented a low-cost device called Matibabu that can diagnose malaria in just a few minutes without the need for blood samples.

The device uses a beam of light to detect changes in red blood cells caused by the malaria parasite. Matibabu has the potential to revolutionize the way malaria is diagnosed and treated, particularly in rural areas where access to medical facilities is limited.
