Cursory: Former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently inaugurated a new building at Bells University in Ota, Ogun State. Donated by Asiwaju Solomon Onafowokan, the building will house the College of Postgraduate Studies, aiming to nurture future leaders for societal impact. Obasanjo praised Onafowokan’s commitment to community development during the ceremony, emphasizing the university’s community ownership. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran, highlighted the building’s importance as a symbol of hope and thanked Onafowokan for his generosity.


Former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently inaugurated a new building at Bells University in Ota, Ogun State. The building, generously donated by Asiwaju Solomon Onafowokan, Chairman of Coleman Wires and Cables, will serve as the College of Postgraduate Studies. The aim of the donation is to nurture future leaders who will make positive contributions to society.
During the commissioning ceremony, Obasanjo lauded Onafowokan’s commitment to community development, noting that the donation has enhanced the university’s infrastructure. He emphasized that the institution belongs to the community and cannot be inherited or sold by his children.
The Vice Chancellor of Bells University, Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran, highlighted the significance of the new building, describing it as a symbol of hope, progress, and potential for greatness. He expressed gratitude to Onafowokan for his generosity and emphasized the importance of cost-effective solutions in such projects.
Onafowokan, in his remarks, thanked everyone for attending the event and apologized for the delay caused by the COVID-19 lockdown. Prof. Bart Nnaji, the Pro-chancellor and Chairman of the Council, praised former President Obasanjo for his contributions to education and commended Onafowokan for his philanthropy. Nnaji urged other philanthropists to support private institutions of higher learning in a similar manner.
