Student at Lagos School Paying ₦46 Million Annually Sparks Reactions Online

A Charterhouse Lagos student sparked online debate after sharing a glimpse of life at the elite school, highlighting its modern facilities and tuition fees that can exceed ₦35 million annually.

A student of Charterhouse Lagos, one of Nigeria’s most expensive private schools, has sparked widespread reactions online after sharing a glimpse into daily life at the institution.

The student, whose identity was not disclosed, documented his routine as a boarding student. His day began with a visit to the school’s medical centre after feeling unwell before attending a physics class. He later joined classmates in the laboratory for a test on static electricity, offering viewers a look at the school’s academic activities.

The footage also showcased the school’s modern facilities, including well-equipped classrooms, advanced science laboratories, and other state-of-the-art learning spaces. Many social media users were impressed by the quality of the infrastructure.

Attention was also drawn to the institution’s tuition fees, which have been widely discussed online. Reports suggest that students in lower classes pay about ₦23 million annually, while senior secondary students may pay up to ₦35 million per year. Additional charges, including application and boarding fees, can significantly increase the total cost.

The post generated mixed reactions, with some Nigerians praising the premium educational environment while others highlighted the stark contrast between elite private schools and many public schools that struggle with inadequate resources.

Charterhouse Lagos, which began operations in September 2024, offers both day and boarding education for primary and secondary school students and follows a British-style curriculum as part of the global Charterhouse school network.
