Students of University of Benin on Wednesday at the Ugbowo campus took over the busy Ugbowo-Lagos Expressway to protest over power outage and lack of water supply in their hostels, among other issues.


Chaos erupted on Wednesday at the Ugbowo campus of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) as students took over the busy Ugbowo-Lagos Expressway to protest a power outage and a lack of water supply in their hostels, among other issues.
According to The Guardian, the students are demanding that the university management urgently restore electricity and water supply to the campus and the hostels.
Additionally, the students are protesting against the increased fare for intra-campus shuttle bus services.
As of the time of this report, the university management has not yet issued an official statement regarding the students’ protest.
