The NDLEA has proposed mandatory drug tests for newly admitted university students to prevent and address drug use, cites concerns about the rising number of drug users among students, especially females.
Hajia Fatima Abiola-Popoola, the Commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kwara State, has suggested that universities implement mandatory drug tests for newly admitted students as part of the admission process.
She stated that such tests would act as a preventive measure, allowing for early intervention and counseling for students already using drugs, helping to prevent more severe issues.
During a radio program in Ilorin, Abiola-Popoola expressed concern about the growing number of drug users in the country, particularly among females, warning that this trend poses significant risks to families and society.
