Gunmen have abducted female students from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University in Makurdi, Benue State.
The attack occurred on Tuesday evening at the university’s North Core campus, where the students, reportedly up to four in number, were heading for a night study session. The assailants stormed the hostel area before seizing their victims.
Shortly after the incident, Nigerian Army operatives arrived at the scene. Benue State Police spokesperson Sewuese Anene confirmed the abduction, stating that preliminary reports indicated two students were taken, and an investigation is underway.
This incident adds to the growing wave of student kidnappings in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
