Exceptional Nigerian Law Graduate Achieves First-Class Honours at LASU, Realizes Lifelong Dream

Oladipupo Samuel, inspired from childhood to pursue law, graduated from Lagos State University with a first-class degree and 4.66 CGPA, earning top academic and leadership awards, while balancing internships, student governance, and entrepreneurship—all driven by faith, discipline, and determination.

LAGOS, NIGERIA – Oladipupo Samuel has made history at Lagos State University (LASU) by graduating with a first-class degree in Law, earning an impressive CGPA of 4.66 out of 5.00. His academic journey was marked by excellence from start to finish—beginning and concluding his studies with a perfect 5.00 GPA.

Throughout his law program, Samuel never scored below a B in any of the 65 courses he completed. His stellar academic record earned him multiple accolades, including:

  • Hon. Justice Taslim Olawale Elias Award – Best student in Customary Law and Nigerian Legal System
  • Hon. Bode Rhodes-Vivour Award – Best project and dissertation

His passion for law was sparked at the age of 8, inspired by Sunny Odunwo, a respected lawyer and former Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Governor. That early influence shaped Samuel’s vision and drive.

Academic and Leadership Excellence

At LASU, Samuel wasn’t only an academic achiever; he was also a dedicated leader and changemaker. His roles included:

  • President, Faculty of Law Bar Association
  • Ambassador, Federation of African Law Students
  • National Justice, Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN)
  • Spokesperson, Student Advocates’ Association (SAA-LASU)
  • Chairman, Gani Fawehinmi Students’ Chamber Electoral Committee
  • Pioneer PRO, Tech Savvy Law, LASU
  • Member, LASUSU Academics & Tutorials Committee

His leadership was recognized through awards such as:

  • Best Advocate, Faculty of Law (2023)
  • Executive of the Year, SAA-LASU
  • Top Performer, GFSC LASU

He also gained practical legal experience through internships at top firms like Banwo & Ighodalo, G. Elias, J.O. Fabunmi & Co., and AA&G Legal. Alongside this, he co-founded Research Hub, a student-led writing and research platform, and was a recipient of four undergraduate scholarships.

Inspiring Message to Aspiring Legal Minds

Samuel attributes his success to divine grace, discipline, and determination. Reflecting on his journey, he offered a powerful message to other young dreamers:

“Discover your purpose and pursue it with everything you’ve got. Whether in law or another field, give it your all—and never let go of your faith in God.”

Now a graduate, Samuel is filled with gratitude for his supporters and mentors and is looking ahead with confidence to the future he believes is divinely designed for him.
