Lotechukwu Ikpo, a brilliant Economics graduate, made history as Bowen University’s first student to achieve a perfect 5.00 CGPA, earning national recognition, a ₦1 million scholarship, and praise for her resilience and dedication despite personal loss.

A brilliant Nigerian student, Lotechukwu Ikpo, has made history at Bowen University, emerging as the institution’s first-ever graduate to achieve a perfect 5.00 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) since its establishment.

Her outstanding academic feat not only set a new record for the university but also earned her national recognition and a ₦1 million postgraduate scholarship award.

Lotechukwu graduated with a First-Class degree in Economics and was celebrated as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the Class of 2025.

Lotechukwu’s Story: How She Achieved Academic Perfection

Lotechukwu’s journey to excellence began in 2022 when she enrolled in Bowen University’s Advanced Level Program. From the very start, she demonstrated exceptional commitment and discipline—maintaining straight A’s throughout her studies.

Her path, however, was not without challenges. In her second year, she tragically lost her father. Rather than letting grief deter her, she transformed her pain into motivation, dedicating herself even more deeply to her academic goals.

Her resilience and determination culminated in a record-breaking performance that has now inspired students across the nation.

Recognition and Awards

During the 2025 Convocation Ceremony, Lotechukwu received numerous awards for her remarkable achievements. She was honored with:

  • A fully funded Master’s scholarship
  • A ₦1 million cash prize

These awards recognized not only her academic brilliance but also her perseverance and inner strength.
