A Nigerian student, Prestige Oluwaseun, has inspired many online after finally gaining admission into the University of Ibadan to study Medicine and Surgery following years of determination and repeated UTME attempts. Despite facing several disappointments, he refused to abandon his dream of becoming a medical student at UI.
Oluwaseun shared that he first sat for the UTME in 2020 and scored an impressive 295, which gave him confidence that admission was certain. However, his hopes were dashed after he failed to meet the required score in the university’s Post-UTME screening exercise. According to him, he needed at least 86 out of 100 to stand a chance, but eventually scored 66.
The setback deeply affected him emotionally as he admitted crying heavily and avoiding conversations with people because of the disappointment. Even with pressure from others advising him to change either his course or institution, he remained committed to studying Medicine and Surgery at UI.
Although he was later offered admission to study Chemistry at the University of Ibadan, he still decided to continue pursuing his original goal. In 2022, he sat for another UTME and this time scored 317 while applying to study Medicine and Surgery at Obafemi Awolowo University.
Excited by the high score, he focused on preparing for the OAU Post-UTME and believed success was finally within reach. Unfortunately, another disappointment followed after he scored 26 out of 40 in the screening test, a result that left him devastated once again.
Despite the emotional struggles and repeated failures, Oluwaseun chose not to give up. He encouraged himself to try one more time, believing persistence would eventually pay off.
After years of hard work, determination, and resilience, he finally achieved his dream by securing admission into the University of Ibadan to study Medicine and Surgery, a breakthrough that has since inspired many people online.
