UNILORIN Graduate Emerges Overall Best Student at Nigerian Law School

UNILORIN graduate Israel Adekunle Adeniyi emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student at the 2026 Nigerian Law School Call to Bar, earning a ₦2 million award after previously graduating as the university’s best law student with a 4.83 CGPA.

A graduate of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Israel Adekunle Adeniyi, has been named the Overall Best Graduating Student of the Nigerian Law School during the 2026 Call to Bar ceremony, adding another remarkable achievement to his academic journey.

Adeniyi, who hails from Offa in Kwara State, completed his Bar Part II programme at the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School. His outstanding performance earned him the highest overall honours among all graduating students nationwide.

In recognition of his exceptional achievement, the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation awarded him a cash prize of ₦2 million. The foundation also hosted him at a dinner attended by its founder and former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to celebrate his success. According to the foundation, the award reflects Adeniyi’s discipline, dedication, and unwavering pursuit of excellence, while reaffirming its commitment to encouraging outstanding young Nigerians.

Adeniyi’s latest accomplishment follows an equally impressive undergraduate record. He previously graduated as the Best Graduating Student in the Common Law programme at the University of Ilorin with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.83, making him the top student in his faculty.

His success also highlights the strong performance of UNILORIN’s Faculty of Law at the Nigerian Law School. In the recently concluded Bar Final Examinations, 16 graduates from the university earned First Class Honours, while 58 others graduated with Second Class Upper honours.

The First Class graduates include Israel Adeniyi, Barakat Ogungbe, Mubarak Owoade, Kamaldeen Akanji, Farida Adeowu, Tomiwa Ademiju, Glory Oladipo, Joel Victor, Nneoma Mbalewe, Abdullahi AbdulAzeez, Boluwatife Oni-Kayode, Adeola Abass, Mariam Oyewumi, Nana Aisha AbdulMaleeq, Rahmat Aduke Oba, and Dorcas Oyedele.

Adeniyi’s achievements, from finishing as the best law graduate at UNILORIN to emerging as the overall best student at the Nigerian Law School, have been widely celebrated as an example of academic excellence and perseverance.
