Nigerian lady whose family relocated to the US with only $150 years ago celebrates bagging huge scholarships

A lady has celebrated her academic successes on the internet with he inspiring and touching family migration story.

The Nigerian lady named Uche Iteogu said on linkedIn that she had always aspired to achieve greatness in the law discipline as a student and was excited it came true.

Uche revealed that she recently got two offers from two pre-law fellowship programs and scholarships worth millions of naira.

Recounting how she arrived the US, the Latham pre-law fellow stated that her family had relocated to the US many years ago with a cloud of uncertainty.

The lady from a family of 7 added that he dad had only $150 on him as they arrived America. The had settled in the city of Georgia and strived with determination and prayer to make ends meet.

Now, things are gradually taking shape. The young scholar appreciated her family members, well-wishers and lecturers for providing her with the needed support system.

Her post read in part:

“Over half a million dollars in scholarships.
Offers from two pre-law fellowship programs.

Most excitingly, the opportunity to return to Morningside Heights to pursue my law degree.
I cannot tell you how many nights I asked for this dream to come true. To see this prayer answered is such a blessing, and I am immensely grateful for my parents, who have become my biggest cheerleaders, my professors, my mentors, my partner, my friends, my students, and my Creator. These achievements are just as much theirs as they are mine.

“My parents settled in Georgia, and they hustled on nothing but a prayer. I am the child of a man who arrived on American soil with $150 in his pocket, unaware of the mental, spiritual, and socioeconomic challenges he would have to overcome in order to establish a life for himself, my mother, and for his five children.
“I am the child of a woman who forged a path in microbiology, gave up her life in Nigeria to move to the U.S., and has led business operations for several companies while being the driving force in my family’s personal and professional outcomes.”

Abosede, in a LinkedIn post, said the scholarship was a partial one and she need to complete it with $70,000. Her inability to raise the required amount meant she had to defer the admission.

Encouraged by her faith in God, Abosede said she reapplied with the intention of getting the scholarship howbeit in full this time around.
