FUTA to start offering Mechatronics and Chemical Engineering

Following a resource verification exercise conducted by teams of experts it sent to the Federal University of Technology, Akure recently, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved two new academic programmes for the institution to take effect from 2021/2022 session.

The programmes are Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering.

Conveying the approval to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape, the Director of Academic Planning at the NUC, Dr. N. B. Saliu on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Professor Abubakar Rasheed wrote:

“The Vice Chancellor is pleased invited to recall that a resource verification visit was carried out by panels of experts to proposed academic programmes in Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State with a view to assessing the human and material resources available for its establishment.

“I am directed to inform the Vice Chancellor that the Executive Secretary has considered and approved the establishment of the full-time mode of the following undergraduate programmes, to be run in the main campus of the university with effect from the 2021/2022 academic session: 1. B.Eng. Mechatronics Engineering, 2. B. Eng. Chemical Engineering.

“All programmes shall bear only the approved titles and nomenclatures and any change will require the approval of the Commission.

“The university is enjoined to provide adequate human and material resources for the development and growth of the approved programmes.”

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape who expressed his delight at the new development said it has further confirmed FUTA’s capability to train and develop capacity building in teaching and training future generation of experts in the two fields.

He called on admission seekers to avail themselves of the opportunity the new programmes offers adding that the FUTA will justify the confidence reposed in it by the NUC.
