“We didn’t Extort Students” — Delta Varsity VC denies claim of extortion

The Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University, DELSU,  Prof Andy Egwunyenga, has denied claims that they extorted N4,000 from students of the university.

This was made known in a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Eddy Agbure.

According to the statement, there was never a time his administration or the institution exploited students of any payment of N4,000 for the production of the school magazine.

Prof Andy described the report as “untrue and cheap blackmail meant to destroy the image of the institution.”

The vice-chancellor went further to threaten any media that carried such report.

The statement further reads: “The University will not hesitate to sue whoever that takes to journalism of destruction and cheap blackmail without considering the rules of the game and ethics that guide the practice of journalism profession which is fair and balance reportage.

“The institution will spare no media house found wanton of such libellous story without carrying out a thorough investigation of the issues at hand before rushing to the press for publication and I will never join issues with those criminals.”
