Owen Omogiafo, an exceptional Nigerian businesswoman, has been honored with the prestigious African Business Woman of the Year award for her outstanding contributions to business development across the African continent.
Dr. Owen Omogiafo is a Nigerian business executive and strategist, currently serving as the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp), a diverse conglomerate with strategic investments in the Power, Hospitality, and Oil and Gas sectors.
The All African Business Leaders Awards (AABLA) in partnership with CNBC Africa recognized her achievements and bestowed upon her the African Business Woman of the Year award during a grand finale ceremony in South Africa.
The AABLA aims to showcase African stories of perseverance, success, innovation, and accountability. The award is renowned for recognizing exemplary business leadership on the African continent and continues to gain prominence.
Dr. Owen’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree (double honors) in Sociology & Anthropology from the University of Benin, a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from the London School of Economics & Political Science, and an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Engineering from the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun.
With over two decades of experience in various sectors, including organizational development, human capital management, financial services, change management, hospitality, energy, business transformation, and strategic planning, she has earned numerous awards and accolades.
Before assuming her current position as President/Group CEO of Transcorp, Dr. Owen served as the Managing Director of Transcorp Hotels PLC, overseeing the successful $132 million renovation of the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, Nigeria.
Notably, she holds the distinction of being the first woman and youngest person to occupy both of these positions since the company’s inception.
