Godfrey Okoye University’s Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Christian Anieke, sparked mixed reactions after personally visiting the female hostel at night to take attendance and prevent students from sneaking out to attend Davido’s concert in Enugu.

The Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Rev. Fr. Christian Anieke, has stirred reactions online after personally visiting the school’s female hostel to take attendance and ensure no student sneaked out to attend Davido’s concert in Enugu.
According to reports, the unannounced visit occurred the same night Davido’s show lit up the city, drawing massive crowds from across the state.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @AsakyGRN, Rev. Fr. Anieke was seen moving through the ladies’ hostel, checking rooms and marking attendance to confirm that all students were present.
The VC’s late-night inspection was reportedly meant to enforce the school’s strict rule prohibiting students from attending off-campus social events without prior permission.
Many students were taken aback by the surprise visit, with some shouting Davido’s name in disbelief as the VC made his rounds.
One online commenter wrote:
“Father Anieke no dey play! Imagine missing Davido’s show just because of roll call.”
Another joked:
“This one pass surveillance o. VC taking attendance himself? Only in Naija!”
While some found the incident amusing, others applauded the Vice Chancellor’s commitment to discipline and his concern for students’ safety.
One thing’s for sure—next time Davido performs in Enugu, Godfrey Okoye students will think twice before sneaking out.
