Former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani, on Thursday condemned the upward review of school fees by the management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, University, Lapai, (IBBUL).

Recall that the management of the university on Tuesday, released a circular, informing the student community that the governing council of the institution had approved the reviewed school fees for all students of the institution effective 2020/2021 academic session.
The circular signed by the university’s Registrar, M.A Abdullahi,
stated that returning students (indigenes) are to pay N67,925, while new students (indigene) are to pay N129,675. Non-indigenes (returning) are to pay N171,325 while new students (non-indigene) are to pay N201,210.
Our correspondent gathered that before now, returning students (indigene) used to pay N27,500 while new students (indigene) were paying N52,500.
Non-indigene students (returning) were paying N55,000 while new students (non-indigene) used to pay N93,000.
Senator Shehu Sani on Thursday wrote on his Facebook wall,
“The increase in the tuition fees for the students of the State owned IBB University Lapai Niger state stands unreservedly condemned.
“It’s sad that the people in Government today who once in their life history benefitted from the generosity and welfare of the Nigerian state are now denying same for the new generation.
“For a region of Nigeria comparatively educationally backward, this is not helpful. It’s clear that Bandits are not alone in destroying public education.Kaduna and now Niger’s action on tuition fees increase is unconscionable.
“This is the moment when legislators with conscience should stand up courageously and say No.” Senator Sani said.
