Authorities at the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) Ekiti state, have prohibited students from bringing cars onto campus.

This was announced in a circular dated November 10, 2021, and signed by the University’s Assistant Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim.
The notice stated that the measure was implemented after the agency’s management received “disturbing reports” of reckless driving and illegal parking by students.
It reads: “The University Management has noted with deep disappointment, the indiscriminate and reckless driving by some students within the university.
“This has put commuters and pedestrians at high and unnecessary risk. Consequently, Management has directed that no student be allowed to drive/use any car on the University Campuses with immediate effect.”.
The university has joined the list of higher education institutions in Nigeria that implement such a ban. On March 14, SaharaReporters reported that the management of the Federal Institute of Technology in Edo State banned students from driving private cars on campus. The school stated the measure was implemented after the “intelligence report” received by the management of the agency.
In April, Ondo State Adeyemi Education College banned students of the agency from using cars and electric bicycles on campus. The date is April 2021. In the notice on Thursday the 15th, the school’s management stated that this is necessary to protect the lives of students and faculty members from students who “recklessly give up” driving.
The management of Delta State Polytechnic Institute Ogwashi-Uku also prohibits students from driving cars in the school building. According to a banner shared on social media, for safety reasons, Students’ cars are forbidden to enter.
