Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) has awarded One Million Naira to her best graduating student.


The Vice-Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele has made good his promise of one million naira cash award to the best graduating student of the University for the year 2017/2018.
Recall that the Vice-Chancellor who was worried that academic excellence was not celebrated or given it’s pride of place in the society, proposed the one million Naira cash award to Senate Members who gave their consent in one of their sittings last year to encourage hardworking students.
This initiative is the first of its kind in the history of the institution.

Miss Abidiak Maria Duononwi of the Faculty of Humanities, Department of Music and who is from Akwa-Ibom State went home with a cheque of one million naira on Saturday December 7, 2019 during the 37th Convocation Ceremony of the University.
This amount is in addition to several other cash awards and prizes that she received at the event.
In her valedictory address, Miss Abidiak Maria Duononwi expressed appreciation to the State Governor Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his vision and exceptional leadership and appealed to him to build a befitting edifice for the Department of Music.


She also commended the Vice-Chancellor for his resilience, hard work and deep sense of respect and humility.
She thanked lecturers in the Faculty of Education for their tutelage and Department of Music for giving life to the institution on regular basis through entertainment.
The best graduating student lauded the Faculty of Humanities for producing the best graduating students for three consecutive years (2015/2016, 2016/2017 and 2017/2018) and added that it is a testimony of the Faculty teaching and leadership.
She urged other graduands to defend IAUE, a World Class Institution and Centre of Excellence in character and in learning and to hold it in high esteem wherever they go.
Miss Abidiak noted that the certificates given would open doors to endless opportunities if they remain crusaders of true knowledge in hard work as graduands of the great citadel of learning.

She congratulated them for their determination and academic achievements and prayed God to lead and direct them with sincere hearts and purpose.
