Residents of an Imo community were left devastated after a nursing student was discovered dead inside an apartment under tragic circumstances.


A tragic incident has thrown residents of Umuadara community in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State into shock after a female nursing student was reportedly murdered in her apartment.
The victim, identified as Wendy Achumba from Abia State, was said to be a student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho. Reports revealed that she had completed her midwifery programme and was undergoing further studies before the unfortunate incident occurred. Her lifeless body was discovered inside her off-campus residence with signs of severe violence, causing panic and sadness within the community.
Residents who noticed blood stains around the apartment reportedly raised an alarm, attracting youths and other members of the community to the scene. Many described the incident as heartbreaking and shocking, noting that the student was known for being calm and dedicated to her education.
The situation reportedly became tense after angry youths demanded immediate justice when security operatives arrived at the scene. Police officers later recovered the body and moved it to the morgue as investigations began into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
The spokesperson of the Imo State Police Command, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident and assured the public that investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible. He also appealed to students and residents to remain calm while the authorities handle the case.
