In JAMB, what is the meaning of Special Consideration (Waiver)??
It means, additional requirement for a particular course in a particular school. If your school have a special consideration for either O’level Requirement, UTME Subject Combination or Direct Entry Requirement, then please take note of it.
Note sometimes in special consideration column, the school requirement might be slight different from the general requirement. We advice you know your desired school’s special consideration for your course. ITS NECESSARY else you might be denied admission.
JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS
English Language(*), Mathematics, Physics and any one (1) of Chemistry, Economics and Biology.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)
(i) MAKURDI, CALABAR and MINNA require Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
(ii) PHC as in Computer Science.
O’LEVEL REQUIREMENT FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS
Below is the O’level Requirement for Computer Science (UTME CANDIDATES)
Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language , Mathematics and any three (3) of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Further Maths, and Technical Drawing.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)
(i) ADSU may accept ‘O’ Level pass in English Language.
(ii) PHC as in Computer Science
(iii) (iv) MINNA requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Physics.
(v) CUAB requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Islamic Studies in place of Chemistry for candidates wishing to study Computer Science with Islamic Studies.
(vi) (vii) MAKURDI and CALABAR require five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry
DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS
Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)
(i) MINNA and ADSU accept ND upper credit Computer Studies or Computer Engineering. It also accepts ‘O’ Level pass in English Language.
(ii) MAKURDI, ABSU and MINNA accept NCE, ND/HND in relevant programmes at credit level plus the UTME requirements
(iii) (iv) CUAB requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include Mathematics and any of Chemistry and Economics. NCE/ND upper credit and approved equivalent of at least upper credit in relevant programmes and IJMB of acceptable grade.
(v) NDU accepts a. ‘A’ Level in relevant two (2) subjects to include Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, plus a pass in the third subject to include Chemistry or any other relevant Science subject, may be admitted into the 200 level of the degree programmes. b. ND credit in relevant programmes of specialization (e.g. Computer Engineering) are eligible for direct entry into 200 level. c. NCE merit in Mathematics or Computer Science as the case may be, Physics, Chemistry, Integrated Science or Economics are eligible for direct entry to 200 level. d. HND credit in Mathematics or Computer Science are eligible for direct entry into 300 level.
(vi) CALABAR accepts ‘A’ Level passes or its equivalent in Physics and either Chemistry or Mathematics.
