Lagos Landlord on the Run After Threatening to Kill UNILAG Student

A Lagos landlord fled after being caught on video threatening to kill a female UNILAG student who rejected his sexual advances, boasting he could cover up the crime with ₦500,000—a case now under police investigation.

A landlord in the Igando area of Lagos State is currently evading arrest after allegedly threatening to murder a 300-level student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The alarming threat was captured in a video posted on TikTok by the victim, who goes by the handle @auraa_ural.

In the video, the visibly agitated landlord is heard saying, “I will kill you. I am going to use ₦500,000 to cover up everything. You are going to die. You are a rat; ₦500,000 will settle everything.” A second man is seen restraining him as he attempts to physically attack the student, who had reportedly refused his sexual advances.

According to the student, she initially sought help from the landlord when the electrical socket in her apartment wasn’t working. Instead of fixing it, he told her to charge her phone in his flat. That simple request soon turned into harassment.

“He started sending inappropriate messages at night and knocking on my door, asking me to come and ‘chill’ with him. Eventually, he stopped responding to my greetings and began assaulting me,” she recounted.

The situation escalated further on a recent Sunday when, she said, he approached her with a plank intending to beat her. A concerned neighbor intervened and prevented the assault.

The student reported the incident to the Igando Police Division. Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the case: “She lodged a complaint at the station, but by the time we arrived, the landlord had already fled. We are currently searching for him and will ensure he faces justice.”
