Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, have awarded full scholarships to 100 undergraduates at the University of Calabar.

Renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, have awarded full scholarships to 100 undergraduates at the University of Calabar through their Mercyisblessed Foundation.
The couple made this announcement to a delighted crowd of students during their university tour on Friday, July 12, 2024, according to a statement released by her management on Monday.
The scholarship covers full tuition and additional support to ensure stability in education for deserving but financially disadvantaged students at the university.
Expressing her thoughts on the initiative, Chinwo said the scholarship is a way to give back to the community that nurtured her.
“Port Harcourt will always be home to me. I cherish the memories of a city where I dared to dream and pursued a meaningful life. I thank the Lord for His work in and through me thus far.
“This scholarship aims to inspire students to believe in their dreams and ambitions and to never give up because there is a God who has ‘Excess Love,’” she said.
The scholarships are effective immediately. Chinwo added that the selection criteria and other details for shortlisting eligible candidates will be communicated through appropriate channels.
