A Nigerian Law School student sparked online backlash after seeking a God-fearing female roommate with a list of domestic duties, including cooking, cleaning, and emotional support, in exchange for covering rent.

A Nigerian Law School student, identified simply as Prince, has drawn widespread attention online after sending out a WhatsApp broadcast message requesting a God-fearing female roommate — along with a detailed list of duties he expects her to perform.
Prince, who is based at the Enugu campus of the Nigerian Law School, revealed that he is currently searching for an apartment and is seeking a female roommate who is not only committed and smart but also willing to assist with domestic responsibilities.
In the message, Prince described his ideal roommate as someone who shares his values and is ready to “build something meaningful and mutually beneficial.” He then listed 10 specific tasks, including cooking for him, doing his laundry, studying together, and helping him stay emotionally stable and organized.
“I am seeking a smart, brilliant, God-fearing, and committed female friend/roommate… someone who is not just interested in companionship but ready to build something meaningful,” part of the message read. “We’ll assist each other with chores, cook and eat together, do assignments, and enjoy productive fun moments.”
He added that he would handle the financial responsibilities involved.
A screenshot of the message, shared by X user @bossladycookist, quickly went viral, sparking a flurry of mixed reactions online. Many users questioned his intentions, with some criticizing the gender-specific expectations and others joking about his approach to finding a roommate.
While some found the request bizarre and inappropriate, others saw it as a reflection of the stress and loneliness faced by many students in demanding academic environments like law school.
