Oluwasegun Olusoji-Ojelade graduated from the University of Lagos after a 12-year journey, earning a degree in Chemical Engineering, becoming a Chartered Accountant, and achieving multiple professional milestones despite significant challenges.


Oluwasegun Olusoji-Ojelade, a determined Nigerian, has earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) after a prolonged 12-year journey instead of the standard five years, overcoming significant challenges to graduate as both an engineer and a Chartered Accountant.
Sharing his inspiring story on LinkedIn, Oluwasegun attributed his success to God’s grace and resilience, reflecting on academic setbacks, mistakes during his early years, and delays caused by nationwide ASUU strikes. Despite these hurdles, he stayed committed to his goals and achieved remarkable milestones, including earning certifications from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and becoming an Associate Accounting Technician (AAT).
During his journey, he gained over five years of professional experience across various fields, managed nationwide projects with a multinational company, and co-founded impactful initiatives like the JOMO Climate Change Initiative, promoting environmental sustainability, and SpaceBar Africa, which focuses on advancing space science education.
Oluwasegun also built Growth Deck, a WhatsApp community of over 2,000 members, providing career mentorship and job updates. He was inducted as a Graduate Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE).
He shared his story to inspire others facing challenges, urging them to persevere and trust the process. Expressing gratitude to his family and friends for their unwavering support, Oluwasegun said, “Every step, every stumble, every delay is part of your journey. If I could rise from those challenges, so can you. Chin up!”
