Top Nigerian University Wins Engineering Quiz Competition

Cursory: The NSChE organized a quiz competition for Chemical Engineering students in Delta/Edo States. Four institutions participated, covering various subjects. Cash prizes and plaques will be awarded to the top three schools.

The Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE), Delta/Edo States chapter, recently organized a quiz competition for Chemical Engineering students from tertiary institutions within the chapter.

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) emerged as the winners for the third consecutive time.The quiz competition took place physically at the Auditorium of the Chemical Engineering Department, University of Benin.

Four out of the seven institutions within the chapter participated in the competition. These schools included the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE); University of Benin, Benin City (UNIBEN); Delta State University (DELSU); and Edo State University, Uzairue (EDSU).

The subjects covered during the competition included Separation Processes, Process Dynamics and Control, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Mathematics, and Current Affairs.

UNIBEN scored 150 points, securing the first place, while EDSU and FUPRE came second and third with 100 and 96 points, respectively. Engr. O. J Ememerurai, the chairman of the chapter, stated that plaques would be awarded to the first, second, and third schools, along with cash prizes of 20,000, 10,000, and 5,000 Naira, respectively.

Each Students’ Chapter was represented by three students, and the participating teams were required to include at least one female member.

The quiz was developed and compiled by Engr. Chinedu Anyalewechi, MNSChE, who served as the Quiz Master. The statement also mentioned that the inaugural edition of the quiz competition took place in 2021.
