Cursory: A student of Federal University, Otuoke, has been allegedly found dead in a swimming pool. Bright, a second year student of the university until his death, had reportedly gone to swim with his friends but did not come back. The police has verified this information is correct, and the school’s management has launched an investigation.


A famous event center at Otuoke’s swimming pool is where a 200-level student from the Federal University, Otuoke, in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, was reportedly discovered dead.
The body was discovered at the pool on Tuesday night, it was. Bright Akhere, a deceased student in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics Education, was reported to have gone swimming with several buddies but never returned.
It was further learned that his body was found the following evening by officials at the event centre.
The management of the school has launched an investigation into the tragedy, according to a representative of the institution who confirmed the information but did not want his name to be published because he lacked the necessary authorization.Asinim Butswat, a spokesman for the state police command, verified the occurrence when contacted.
He said:
“On 25th April 2023, at about 2000 hours, the Command got a report that a corpse was found floating in a swimming pool at a popular event Center at Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area.
“A team of operatives visited the scene and evacuated the corpse to the mortuary for autopsy.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the deceased Bright Akhere 21 years, a student from the Department of Mathematics in the Federal University Otuoke, was with his friends at the swimming pool the previous evening, 24th April and the friends left the pool at about 1700 hours. Police are on the trail of the friends who are now at large.
“Investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the suspected drowning of the student.
