Since January 2025, the Trump administration has revoked over 6,000 student visas—many due to criminal activity or political expression deemed harmful to U.S. foreign policy—amid heightened immigration scrutiny and social media monitoring.

The United States government has revoked more than 6,000 student visas since January 2025, according to officials from the U.S. State Department.
Out of these, around 4,000 visas were canceled due to offenses such as assault, burglary, driving under the influence (DUI), and connections to terrorism.
Additionally, international students and green card holders who have publicly expressed support for Palestinians or criticized Israel’s actions in the ongoing Gaza conflict are reportedly at risk of deportation, as such views are now being interpreted as threats to U.S. foreign policy.
This development follows a recent advisory from the U.S. Embassy warning immigrant students about behaviors that could lead to visa revocation.
The Trump administration has also enforced stricter immigration measures, including enhanced scrutiny of visa applicants’ social media activity.
