During the matriculation ceremony for part-time students at Osun State University, Vice-Chancellor Professor Clement Adebooye warned new students to avoid social vices like cultism and emphasized the university’s strict discipline policy, while encouraging them to focus on their academic goals and take advantage of a new top-up program that allows HND holders to earn a B.Sc. degree in 24 months.

The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Clement Adebooye, cautioned new students to avoid social vices that could jeopardize their studentship during the matriculation ceremony for part-time degree students at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium on the Osogbo campus.
He highlighted the university’s strict stance against cultism and other forms of indiscipline that could damage its reputation. Professor Adebooye, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic, Research Innovation, and Partnerships, Professor Adetunji Kehinde, urged students to concentrate on their academic and professional aspirations.
He emphasized, “As you embark on this academic journey, it’s vital to remember the core values of our institution. Osun State University upholds the highest standards of discipline, and you are expected to adhere strictly to the regulations governing student conduct. Let me be clear: any student found engaging in negative behaviors such as examination malpractice, cultism, or misconduct will face severe disciplinary actions, including potential expulsion. We take pride in our zero-tolerance policy against any actions that could tarnish this esteemed institution’s reputation.”
Acknowledging that many part-time students are mature individuals balancing multiple responsibilities, he expressed confidence in their ability to demonstrate exemplary behavior while focusing on their academic goals.
He encouraged students to take advantage of the university’s new top-up program, which enables holders of Higher National Diplomas (HND) to earn a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in just 24 months across various fields, including Accounting, Building, Sociology, and others.
Professor Adebooye concluded, “This initiative reflects our commitment to providing flexible and accessible education that meets the evolving needs of society while ensuring that students maintain a strong focus on their studies.”
